How many times have you thought about writing a blog article to help promote your business, sat down at your computer, and could thing of nothing to write? You are not alone, many business owners just like you suffer from the same writing challenges.
In addition to business blogging I am active with two local chamber of commerce groups (Gresham and East Portland). These groups have 100+ and 30+ (respectfully) people attending on a weekly bases. Several chamber members have had me help them set up a blog site and most are very successful; but some tell me they’ve avoided starting a blog because they didn’t feel they had enough time or matieral to make it worth while.
Being one who listens to my customers and an entrepreneur, I’ve taken input from my fellow chamber members, friends and blogging customers and have created a new online business networking website: PortlandBusinessCommunity.com.
Blogging does require weekly attention, but it takes several articles to build up the popularity of a site. While blogging alone on your own site provides more control over the message, it can feel like a lonly endeavor. PortlandBusinessCommunity.com is a site for business owners, by business owners. Already several local business people have signed up and started writing (the site is only one week old!)
The idea behind the site is to provide business owners from the Portland Metro Area a place to build business relationships AND increase their search engine visibility–thus gaining MORE internet traffic. What is the cost of such a great site you ask? FREE, Nada, NOTHING!!!
Local business owners are encouraged to start their blogging careers on PortlandBusinessCommunity.com. Write a couple articles per month and we will add a link back to your company website for FREE.
- Links to your company website are automatic on every comment you submit.
- Membership is free and writing gives you exposure to other business people in the Portland Metro Market.
Readers will not be assaulted by never ending sales presentations. Rule one for the site is No Direct Sales Pitch. Share your expertise, add to the conversation, ask questions, or just read the great ideas others write…there is no wrong way to use a business blog site.
Take the ideas you learn here on BusinessBlogging.net or on my story based site EdBejarana.WordPress.com and try them out on PortlandBusinessCommunity.com. When you get the hang of blogging and are ready to adopt a regular site for your own business, then you’ll already know how to make it successful, and you will have gained internet visibility while you learned.
Still struggling to pick a topic and get writing? Here are a few suggested article genres:
- The general interest article
- The art-of-living article
- The academic article
- The technical article
- The celebrity profile
- The travel article
- The family article
- The current events article
- The how-to article
- The health and fitness article
- The religious and inspirational article
- The computer and high tech article
- The self-help article
- The business article
When business blogging, your article is neither fact nor fiction, though it contains elements of both. Articles with ideas are valued higher than fact filled diatribe. Write your article to help, teach, amuse, move or inspire your reader. We’ve narrowed this down to what we call the Three E’s (Encourage, Enlighten or Engage).
