When you started your small business (or are thinking about starting one) did you believe marketing your business would be so hard? Also, did you think marketing would change so much so quickly?
With traditional marketing producing at lower returns AND internet marketing changing at a blistering pace, how can a small biz (lower case B) survive?
To make matters worse; the government looks to be going into business on the People’s behalf. Without making a political statement on the subject, thinking just from a competition standpoint: trying to compete in a marketplace where one of the competitors can spell (and spend) a trillion dollars puts small businesses people at a disadvantage. Or does it?
When faced with a turbulent marketplace AND stiff competition, the small business operator must use size to their advantage.
In this three part article (see details below) we will explore Small Biz Ideas on how to navigate the murky economic waters.
From the internet perspective, your friends and family tell you to use Twitter and Facebook; but isn’t Twitter is a bully and Facebook a Photo album? How are these two things going to help?
Kidding aside, the way social networking sites help is very similar to how attending chamber events help your business. You share conversation with other people with similar interests with hopes of promoting your product or service.
Online networking via social networking requires you plan a head. The idea is to use popular keyword phrases inside your communications and then put those communications in places where Google catalogs the information.
Just like face-to-face networking, the idea behind social networking is to be remembered by the search engines. Your intent shouldn’t be to capture “the” prospect you are conversing with, but rather to use language that Google lists for someone else searching specifically for what your were conversing.
When faced with potentially competing with the government, using social networking to help supplement your business marketing effort can lower your over all marketing expenditure (both in time and dollars spent).
